A Stud Farm with History
Recognized as one of Argentina's most prestigious breeding and sport development establishments, Haras Abril was founded with the goal of bringing the best genetic lines in international show jumping to the country and developing horses capable of competing at the highest level.
Our Journey
Founding
Founded in 2009 by Román H. Giani, Haras Abril was created with the mission of developing internationally competitive show jumpers, bringing to Argentina standards of genetic selection, reproduction, and management equivalent to the world's leading equestrian centers.

First Export
In 2014, Haras Abril completed its first sport export, internationally validating the quality of its breeding program, genetic selection, and show jumper training. This milestone cemented the stud farm's position as a supplier of competitive horses to the world's leading equestrian markets.

First Annual Auction
Since 2016, the Haras Abril Annual Auction has become the main channel for marketing its genetics, with nine consecutive editions held to date. The event reflects the continuity, transparency, and quality of the breeding program, connecting the stud farm's production with buyers in Argentina and abroad.

ODESUR 2018
In 2018, Román H. Giani was appointed Team Chef d'Équipe of the Argentine Show Jumping Team at the XI ODESUR South American Games in Cochabamba. This appointment reflected his track record and personal standing within high-performance equestrian leadership, both nationally and internationally.

Assisted Reproduction Center
In 2020, Haras Abril opened a state-of-the-art Assisted Reproduction Center, equipped with specialized technology for embryo transfer programs. This addition strengthened reproductive efficiency and accelerated the development of high-performance genetics to international standards.

Abril Giquadana Semilly
Acquired at the 2016 Annual Auction, Abril Giquadana Semilly, ridden by Argentine rider Manuel Chechic, won Grand Prix classes in Mexico and Europe, competed in the Nations Cup with the Argentine team, and continues competing at the top level in Argentina's Grand Prix classes.

Argentina's First Synthetic Footing Arena
In 2021, Haras Abril opened Argentina's first synthetic footing arena, fitted with the international OTTO system and the latest German technology. Its design optimizes sport performance, safety, and training continuity, replicating the conditions found at Europe's leading equestrian venues.

Ocala, Florida Facility
In 2022, Haras Abril established a facility in Ocala, Florida, the leading equestrian hub in the United States. This strategic expansion enabled a direct and sustained presence in the North American market, strengthening the sport development and international marketing of its horses.

Abril Hilcha Z: Gold and Silver at the Central American Games
In 2023, Abril Hilcha Z delivered an outstanding international performance, winning team gold and individual silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Ridden by Alberto Sánchez Cozar, representing Mexico, the result confirmed the competitive level of the genetics developed by Haras Abril.

Abril Iconthon at the Pan American Games
In 2023, Abril Iconthon became the first Haras Abril–bred horse to represent the Argentine team at a Pan American Games. Ridden by Leandro Moschini, this achievement reaffirmed the international competitiveness and quality of the stud farm's genetic program.
ICSI Adopted
In 2024, Haras Abril incorporated ICSI technology into its Assisted Reproduction Center, expanding access to the world's most outstanding genetic lines. The stud farm also imports the latest-generation European embryos and carries out embryo transfer and ICSI procedures entirely in its own laboratory, maximizing the use of elite genetics.

Abril Iconthon: CHIO Aachen and the Paris Olympics
Abril Iconthon, ridden by Argentine rider José María Larocca, qualified for the Paris Olympic Games and competed at the prestigious CHIO Aachen, considered the most important equestrian show in the world. His clear round in the Rolex Grand Prix stands as one of the most remarkable sporting achievements for an Argentine-bred horse.
Abril I'Clinbalou II
Abril IClinbalou II, ridden by Alexis Trosch, led the FEA Grand Prix Ranking competing in the 1.50m category. This achievement reaffirmed the competitiveness and sport performance of the genetics developed by Haras Abril at the highest national level.

Mares of Macha Partnership
Haras Abril formed a strategic partnership with Mares of Macha (MoM), bringing one of Europe's most prestigious genetic programs to Argentina. This agreement provides access to embryos from CSI 5★ mares with a pregnancy guarantee, strengthening the availability of elite genetics for show jumping.

Abril Hope Girl: Bolivarian Games
Abril Hope Girl won team silver at the Bolivarian Games, representing Venezuela under Fernando Plaz. This result reaffirmed the international reach and competitive level of the horses developed by Haras Abril.

Abril Kaimant: CSI 1★ Concordia Winner
Abril Kaimant won the CSI 1★ in Concordia, ridden by Pablo Arias, taking the 1.50m class. This win opened the 2025 FEA Grand Prix Ranking and reaffirmed the competitive level of the genetics developed by Haras Abril.

2026 Foal Crop
Haras Abril has built a comprehensive breeding program based on natural births, embryo transfer, ICSI, and the incorporation of elite European embryos. The results of this strategy will be reflected in the exceptional 2026 foal crop, shaping the stud farm's sporting and genetic future.

Founder of Haras Abril, Román H. Giani leads the establishment's strategic vision and personally oversees international genetic selection. His ongoing search for elite mares, sires, and maternal bloodlines at Europe's leading breeding centers forms the foundation of the stud farm's genetic program and international standing.

ROMÁN GIANI JR.
Sport Director · Head of Training
Román Giani Jr. leads Haras Abril's sport development and training program, overseeing the education, preparation, and progression of young and top-competition horses. His work allows each horse's performance to be assessed and enhanced, optimizing its path toward the top level of international show jumping.

ALLEGRA GIANI
Training & Young Horse Development
Allegra Giani plays an active role in Haras Abril's young horse training and development program, involved in the early stages of starting under saddle, monitoring, and sport progression. Her work supports the gradual preparation of each horse as it transitions into high-performance training.
